Our charter is to develop technology (in particular, a mobile OS utility), industry standards and legislative policies to promote the health and well-being of teen and pre-teen social media users.  Aegis seeks to effect fundamental shift in the social media industry away from “attention farming” and towards promotion of healthy connections and relationships which does not, generally speaking, generate revenue for the platform provider.

      Our vision is to create and host, on a not-for-profit basis, a mobile OS (operating system) utility, in partnership with mobile device providers, that will act like an antivirus filter for social media.  When parents require their teens and preteens to have the Aegis software on their phones, the parents will have a trusted partner ensuring that their social interactions remain private but are also safe and healthy.

      By the end of 2022, Aegis will develop the baseline technical requirements, standards and policies that will guide development of the software in 2023.  In 1Q2023 Aegis will seek out partnerships with mobile device providers such as Apple and Google to accelerate development of the software and refine the requirements and standards.  By 3Q2023 Aegis will begin software development, seek partnerships with social media platforms such as Tumblr and Tik Tok, and begin lobbying for legislation, as appropriate.
